August 2nd Picnic

August 2nd we are planning a Picnic and special Sunday service at the upper Iowa resort and camp grounds. We will be grilling chicken and bringing the band to crank us up! Some items that will be needed. Camping chairs, side dish or desert, sunscreen, swim suit, a couple of volley balls, a basketball, etc. There is also two horse shoe pits. Plan on being there! it is going to be great fun and will help raise funds for Ironridge Church's "Making ourselves known" campaign. Stay tuned for more details coming soon.

Prayer Walk

We want to pray for the kids in our community as they head out and about for the summer by holding a prayer walk in some of the places where our kids might be hanging out this summer -- the pool, the park, and the ball parks. And we'd love to have you join us in this prayer walk. If you've never done a prayer walk before, that's OK. It's easy, and yet it's powerful. And you don't have to walk with your eyes closed!

Here are the details:
We'll do a prayer walk at 8:00pm on Wednesday evening, May 27th. We'll have two groups, both starting at 8:00pm, one with Darcie Klocke at the Pool & Park, and one group with me at the Fairgrounds & Ball Diamonds. You may choose either location, and arrive shortly before 8pm so we can start on time. The group at the Pool will park and meet at the pool, then walk around the pool, the park, pond, and ball diamond stopping at specific locations and praying as a group. The group at the Fairgrounds will park and meet near the grandstands. We'll walk around the ball diamonds, soccer fields, grandstand, and fair area. We'll stop at various locations along the way and pray for all the kids there during the summer, praying for such things as:
• safety from injury,
• for God to protect them,
• for safe driving, bicycling and walking,
• to help them speak truth and live by truth,
• to stand up to peer pressure,
• purity of thought and action,
• resolution of conflict,
• peaceful relationships,
• to see God in their natural surroundings,
• to make decisions that follow Christ-likeness
• and anything else God puts on your heart to pray for.
I don't know how long this will take, but both groups should be able to finish before it gets too dark. You don't need to bring anything, but feel free to bring any specific scriptures, your bible, or prayers you want to use. And, please know that no one is forced to pray aloud. I know not everyone is comfortable praying aloud and that's perfectly OK. All are welcome. You are also encouraged to pass this along to anyone else you think might be interested. Spread the word! Share this with your churches, and consider putting an announcement in your Sunday bulletin or email bulletins. We'd love to have several at each location. Our goal is to cover these summer grounds with prayer so all our children and all the kids in Waukon can have a safe, God-filled summer.
